It’s daddy’s birthday this weekend and Haven and I are getting everything ready to make it a super special day. What task is still on the to-do list as of Tuesday morning?
a. The pain-in-the ass coconut cake has yet to be baked (and iced).
b. The super secret craft project we are working on isn’t finished.
c. Find daddy a gift….oh, and a card.
d. Drive across town in pain-in-the-ass traffic to pick up $40 coconut cake.
The answer to last week’s question is:
c. A large truck caught the cable line that runs to our house and completely yanked it out.
Early Wednesday morning of last week, I woke up to a loud noise and the house seemed to shake. I was baffled…what on earth would make such a noise? Did someone drive into our house? Clueless. Oddly enough, our Internet was kaput, as well as the cable television. I called the cable company, we ran some typical diagnostics and nothing seemed to help. We made an appointment for a technician to come by the house on SATURDAY. As I walked to the car to run some errands, I saw what was likely the culprit. A line of some sort was down on the street. So, I called the cable company back, went back and forth with them, only to be told that a technician would be by on Saturday. Matt talked to them and we tried to explain that we didn’t think a regular technician could handle this job. They blew him off as well. So, we waited. Saturday morning the technician arrived and was (fortunately) able to remedy the problem and reattached the cable to the house.
Ultimately, we were disappointed that the cable company thought we were idiots and even questioned as to why a line would be low enough for a truck to hit, and managed to stay up for years without a problem. Well, probably because it was being held up by the dead tree that the city finally cut down. Customer service was as piss poor as it could have been, not to mention the extravagant wait time to talk to a human. While we would like to switch to a more reliable and customer friendly company, we can’t justify spending more money and losing the cable television to boot. After all, we really don’t watch much television, but it is sure nice to have when we do.
