do i have to share?

Just as I put Kendall down for her afternoon nap I noticed a motorcycle policeman hanging out, blocking our street from traffic. At about the same time I saw my neighbor running down the street with a camera and the grumpy neighbor following her. Well, this was worth checking out, I thought. I walked down our sidewalk and noticed about ten government vehicles, secret service officers and a crowd gathered at the coffee shop. The cop somewhat confirmed what I was thinking when he told me “VIP visitors”. Yep, Obama’s here. I told Haven to get her shoes on, went upstairs to get Kendall out of her crib, grabbed Haven’s jacket and we scurried on down the street. In a few minutes, Obama came out of our local pizza joint where he had stopped for lunch (according to our neighbor*, he had just been to our local Pet Smart with Bo and then to our Best Buy). We didn’t think Obama was going to come over to talk to us, but when he did I grabbed Haven (so I was holding both kids), so I only got audio of him talking to us. It was neat and exciting and of course, probably totally lost on my preschooler and toddler!

* In the first video, you can hear Obama saying “You are following me!” to someone. He is referring to our neighbor who just had run into Obama not once, not twice, but THREE times today!

Haven and I dropped off a new, unwrapped toy at The Dairy Godmother, where they were collecting Toys for Tots. Haven didn’t really understand why she couldn’t have the toy, so she got a treat…which made it all better.
