There’s more to see here.

This past weekend we went to a house concert where Adam Steffey and Kym Warner of The Greencards were on a Mandolin Sessions tour. We missed the potluck and jam session prior to the concert, but arrived right at showtime. Having never been to a house concert before, I didn’t know what to expect. The atmosphere was very laid back and we hung out in the wings with Haven. She seemed to enjoy herself, munching on Pringles and doing a little jig. I guess she knows good music when she hears it. I mean, how many times do you get to see a multiple Grammy award winner and nominee performing in someone’s living room? We did.

Then.

And now.

I’m trying to kick a cold (and the cough with it). I desperately need to decorate for Christmas (after all, we DO celebrate Christmas, or a variation thereof, and are having the festivities at our house). I need to get moving on purchasing presents (I did manage to order some fun presents for Haven this weekend, though). I need. I want.
What I really needed this Monday morning was something to put things into perspective. To ground me. For those of you churchy folks, I needed to see the light.
And here it was. I had already read about Stephanie and her devastating plane crash. But, I had not checked out her blog since August. Until this morning. When I quickly changed my tune.
I am thankful. Thankful to have a warm home. I am blessed. Blessed to have a family that consists of loving husband (who, by the way did a fabulous job of taking care of me this weekend), a beautiful, healthy daughter, two furry creatures and even all of the crazy relatives scattered around us. I am grateful.
I found out about The Jimmies through swissmiss and this song is so catchy I am practicing my animals en espanol because this song is on repeat in my head.
It’s snowing outside. Everybody in the house (including the furry ones) is napping, except for me. I’m watching college football, doing laundry, drinking hot tea and snuggling with the furry ones. We are all mending colds, but hoping the end is near. We had a crazy week, topped off last night at a fancy party where I managed to almost lose my voice. Asking Santa for a little early Christmas cheer, because this hoarse snot sucks.
