My religious studies as of late are almost non-existent, and extremely sporadic. A little dose of this and that that heals my spirit, but not a steady stream of one sect. But, gospel music and hymns always hit me, especially the ones I remembered from when I was a little girl. It lifts my spirit and like a catchy commerical jingle it gets stuck in my head on replay. At my cousin’s wedding this weekend (she was BEEAutiful, by the way), the congregation sang Great is Thy faithfulness. Now, I don’t know if just the Primitive Baptists sing this song, but if they should sell the rights to the others. Because, let me tell you. When all them religious folk were belting out Great is Thy faithfulness, acapello, I was praising the Lord and tingling all over from the four part harmony. Best wishes, Tony and Miracle!
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
