linger

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Mm, mm, I’d like to linger
Mm, mm, a little longer
Mm, mm, a little longer here with you
Mm, mm, its such a perfect night
Mm, mm, it doesn’t seem quite right
Mm, mm, that it should be my last with you
Mm, mm, and come December
Mm, mm, I will remember
Mm, mm, our campfire bright and friendships true
Mm, mm, and as the years go by
Mm, mm, I’ll think you you and sigh
Mm, mm, this is goodnight and not goodbye

We are home from a near perfect vacation at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  More later…

Since we are on the topic of God and all, let’s throw Big Momma and creationism in the mix, and shake a stick at it!

Frozen custard.  Chocolate, vanilla and a flavor of the day.  Wisconsin style.  And, if that doesn’t do it for you, there’s an assortment of sorbets (including my favorite, apple cider), ice cream truffles, homemade marshmallows, giant cookies and Sprecher beverages.  Yep, you are on your way right now.  You might even run into the president while you are there.  Don’t forget to pick up a puppy pop for Fido on your way out the door.

great is thy faithfulness

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

My religious studies as of late are almost non-existent, and extremely sporadic.  A little dose of this and that that heals my spirit, but not a steady stream of one sect.  But, gospel music and hymns always hit me, especially the ones I remembered from when I was a little girl.  It lifts my spirit and like a catchy commerical jingle it gets stuck in my head on replay.  At my cousin’s wedding this weekend (she was BEEAutiful, by the way), the congregation sang Great is Thy faithfulness.  Now, I don’t know if just the Primitive Baptists sing this song, but if they should sell the rights to the others.  Because, let me tell you.  When all them religious folk were belting out Great is Thy faithfulness, acapello, I was praising the Lord and tingling all over from the four part harmony.  Best wishes, Tony and Miracle!

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

flashback friday

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Fifteen years have come and gone since I graduated from high school, which seems so hard to believe.  This weekend I am meeting up with some classmates for an impromptu reunion.  In honor of the event, I am posting a scanned picture from my senior yearbook.

cheerleading

I know it isn’t the best picture (I’m the second from the left), but it will always remind me of my favorite year of cheerleading ever.  Everybody got along, there wasn’t any drama.  No catfights, nobody fighting over a boy.  And, if you have ever been on a cheerleading squad, you know exactly what I am talking about.  So, just for old times sake, sing along.

Oh, here’s to the red, white and blue, FIGHT! FIGHT!
We’re going to win tonight.
Oh, here’s to the team with the loyalty.
We are from LIBERTY.
No matter if we should lose or win,
We back the MINUTEMEN.
So, let’s give a cheer to the team of the year,
As they lead us to Vic-TOOR-EEE-EE-EEE.  Hey!

Yes, that was done from memory as I was doing the silly dance routine in my head. I *think* I got all the words right.

greencards

Haven’t got the message of how much I love the Greencards? No, I am not their manager, nor do I get free tickets from them, but I’d take them if they offered.  Anyway, if I am not convincing enough, NPR has their Mountain Stage performance online.  Listen for yourself.
