Wednesday, September 16th, 2009With Patrick Swayze’s death this week I’ve had scenes of Dirty Dancing replaying over and over in my mind. For my generation, we propelled into puberty attempting to imitate Baby, with our Keds (no socks, of course) and rolled up jean shorts. For our moms, it was a flashback of grinding in the basement with their rebellious boyfriends. And for this British couple Kenny Ortega’s dance moves were recreated for their wedding day. Whatever way you look at it, nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Friday, September 11th, 2009A year ago today I woke up at 6:30 am, went to the bathroom, only to discover my water had broke. I just knew I was going to have a baby on 9/11. Patriot’s Day. A Patriot Baby. I had no idea that baby was going to hold on to my uterus until the NEXT DAY. And, boy oh boy, does she have a hold of ME (and my heart) now. So, while I will never forget the very moment I heard about the twin towers, I will also remember the day I spent laboring with my baby girl, with her daddy by our side.
