Weekend plans went out the window when acute pain led to a surprise trip to the emergency room at 5:30 am Friday morning. While the world was mourning the loss of Michael Jackson, I spent the day hospitalized. Shortly after being admitted, I had an ultrasound test done that confirmed my gallbladder was in fact the culprit and needed to be removed. The day was pretty much a blur. Within in a matter of hours I was given pain medication, diagnosed and in surgery. While everything happened very fast, I am glad that everything was taken care of in one day, rather than having to suffer over several days. The biggest blessing was knowing Haven was being taken care of with Matt’s parents while Matt was able to be by my side at the hospital. Otherwise things would have been much more stressful. While I missed Haven terribly, she was perfectly happy hanging out at home with grandma and grandpa, sipping milk from her sippy cup while I pumped and dumped breast milk at the hospital.
All is well. I’m recovering at home and plan on taking it easy over the next week. Matt is taking some time off from work and Matt’s mom is coming mid-week to help us. I’m looking forward to having some down time as a family and think I might take advantage of the helping hands. I’m overdue for a dentist appointment, haircut and a pedicure sure sounds lovely right now.
Thanks for all the well wishes!
Sorry to hear about your surgery. I had mine removed three years ago. You are going to be sore for a couple of weeks to come! Get lots of rest and don’t overdo it. This is the time to let everybody help you!!
Take care of yourself.
I am glad it has gone well. Just rest and heal. Don’t try to do too much. You don’t want to pull those stitches. I hope you have been able to get your body back to normal. I puked bile like crazy the second night after I had mine out and felt the worst gut pain ever as I tried to hurl into the toilet without having to bend at the waist. I had to guzzle milk of magnesia to get my bowels kick started again because I was constipated after it all. I thought my protruding gut from the air they pumped in would never go back to normal and the pain meds made me itch so I took Benadryl to stop the itching and thus was pretty drugged up for about a week. I went back to work on the following Monday one day shy of a week after surgery and pretty much just sat and let the kids play on the computers all day because I felt like crap. All of that to avoid missing a day so I could get an extra $30 for perfect attendance! I made it through the year and got my $30, but after that I decided it wasn’t worth it. When Bo had his heart arrhytmia problem and had to go to the ER this past Jan., I said who cares about perfect attendance this year. He was cured of the problem in February by the way. You’re in my prayers!
