gallbladder be gone

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Weekend plans went out the window when acute pain led to a surprise trip to the emergency room at 5:30 am Friday morning.  While the world was mourning the loss of Michael Jackson, I spent the day hospitalized.  Shortly after being admitted, I had an ultrasound test done that confirmed my gallbladder was in fact the culprit and needed to be removed.  The day was pretty much a blur.  Within in a matter of hours I was given pain medication, diagnosed and in surgery.  While everything happened very fast, I am glad that everything was taken care of in one day, rather than having to suffer over several days.  The biggest blessing was knowing Haven was being taken care of with Matt’s parents while Matt was able to be by my side at the hospital.  Otherwise things would have been much more stressful.  While I missed Haven terribly, she was perfectly happy hanging out at home with grandma and grandpa, sipping milk from her sippy cup while I pumped and dumped breast milk at the hospital.

All is well.  I’m recovering at home and plan on taking it easy over the next week.  Matt is taking some time off from work and Matt’s mom is coming mid-week to help us.  I’m looking forward to having some down time as a family and think I might take advantage of the helping hands.  I’m overdue for a dentist appointment, haircut and a pedicure sure sounds lovely right now.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

(un)scheduled maintenance

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

My trusty computer is overloaded with pictures and videos…and its memory is being taxed.  So, we are doing some (un)scheduled maintenance at the moment and I hope to be able to upload more goodies soon.

breakdanceSounds like a great emergency plan to me.  Especially on sad and rainy days.  This shirt is going on my wish list.

Yes, apparently there’s a Bonita’s Diner in New York.  I’ve never been, but if I ever make it there, I’m buying my favorite aunt all that I can carry home.

happy birthday boss!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

matthalloweengeek
Every year, during the month of June, in a span of four days, FOUR people special to me celebrate their birthday. During this time we dine on birthday cake and ice cream while hundreds of candles (okay, maybe not hundreds, but over a hundred) are blown in the wind.

This year, the celebration began with a Elmo birthday party and will end with a bon voyage. Smack dab in the middle of all of that the man I love, who just so happens to be Haven’s daddy, or boss as he prefers to be called, turns another year older.  So, happy birthday boss!  We love you!

cookbook cravings

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I peeked in Ross today, looking for odds and ends, and stumbled upon a stash of cookbooks $6 or less.hello-cupcake

I seriously considered this Hello, Cupcake book for $3, but resisted the urge and placed the book back on the rack.  Lucky for me I can pick it up at my library or check out their website for inspiration!

However, I couldn’t resist the urge and I bought Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfield (yes, that’s funny man Jerry’s wife) for $5.49.

I also snagged Southern Living’s Busy Moms Weeknight Favorites for $6.  Shanna had mentioned that she loves this cookbook (I hope this is the right one!) and I felt it would be worth having on hand as Haven gets older.
