paint buffet…check!

A couple of weeks ago while Matt was gone on a business trip I transformed an ugly buffet I had picked up off freecycle into something functional and much more attractive to look at. I removed the old hardware, sanded, two coats of primer, two coats of paint and new hardware and over twelve hours of work later we have the finished product. Here’s some before and after pictures.

This was what it looked like right after I picked it up several months ago…

This is what it looks like now. What a difference!

    Good gracious, does this look fantastic! It was a great piece to start with, too. Awesome job! How long did it take you??

    It took quite a while to do. First, I removed the hardware and sanded down the sucker to roughen it up, then two coats of primer, then two coats of paint, then reattaching hardware. Breakdown below is approximate.

    Hardware removal and sanding = 2 hours
    Two coats of primer = 4 hours
    Two coats of paint = 4 hours
    Shopping for primer, paint and hardware = 1.5 hours
    Hardware reattachment = .5 hours.

    Total = 12 hours
